Ship In A Bottle

USS Constitution

This is one of my brand new ships in a bottle, the USS Constitution. The Constitution ,"Old Ironsides", is the oldest commissioned naval war ship in the US Navy, first launched in 1797 and named by George Washington. The Constitution is berthed at Pier 1 at the Charlestown Navy Yard.

The Eagle

The Eagle is another new ship in a bottle of mine. This cutter is one of the only two commissioned military sailing vessels, the other being the USS Constitution. The Eagle, a United States Coast Guard ship, makes an appearance at Tall Ships Week in Boston every year!!

These three ships do not belong to me, but I think they are beautiful. I cannot believe the meticulous work that must go into crafting these small ships in such a small space.

This collections of Seba's engravings of rare specimins is so incredible. I own Seba's Cabinet of Natural Curiosities and page through it constantly. I especially adore the sea life images. Below are a small sampling of some of my favorites.

Portsmouth, with its beautiful seacoast landscape, incredible architecture and rich history, will always have a very special place in my heart. I absolutely adore this historic seaport town.
