Nubble Lighthouse

Nubble Lighthouse, York Maine

My sister and I recently took a boat ride from Ogunquit, Maine to York. The highlight was viewing the Nubble Lighhouse just as the end of summer sun peeked through the clouds. Labor Day weekend well spent.

Fisherman Gathering Nets, Maine

Fishermen Gathering Nets, Maine

Photograph by Luis Marden

"On a boat cruising down east, sardines are scooped out of the holding seine at Eastport at dawn. 'Sardines' may be any of several species of fish; in Maine they are usually small herring. Fish are penned in nets until the boats are ready to load. The fish are taken a short distance to canneries which work round the clock, according to the time of the catch."—Luis Marden

Newburyport, MA

Newburyport, MA is such a charming little town north of Boston. The shops, restaurants and coastal charm are abundant.

Newburyport, in the off-season is such a sleepy little New England town with a ton of character. I have yet to visit during the summer tourist season.

One of my favorite places to get my shop on in Newburyport is Oldies. It's a vintage shopper's paradise!!

The Great Island

Welcome To New Castle

New Castle, New Hampshire (AKA "The Great Island") is one of my favorite places in the world. I would LOVE to live on the island some day. It's a small, salty New England town with such amazing views and landscape.  New Castle is the smallest town in New Hampshire, but in my opinion the most lovely.

The Wentworth By The Sea Hotel provides amazing historical accommodations right on the water. This place has a colorful past and a great place to stay if visiting the area.

Charles River

I love the spring time in Boston. Everything seems to come to life again. Water sports are in full swing and the city is a great back drop for all the nautical activity!
